Loos & Co. Donates to Eastern CT Veterans

05/26/2022

Pomfret, CT, May 26, 2022 — For the second year in a row, Loos & Company is helping veterans in the eastern Connecticut area gather and receive life-saving services.

This week Loos & Company was proud to donate a $500 check to support the Eastern Connecticut Veterans Community Center and Coffeehouse. This organization offers local veterans the chance to meet, socialize and receive support regarding veterans’ benefits and services.

Loos staff visited the Coffeehouse program Wednesday to deliver the check and spend time with area veterans.

Marketing Assistant Anne Nichols shared comments on Loos’ dedication to local veterans’ organizations, including the inaugural donation to the Danielson Veterans Coffeehouse in 2021.

“We’re thankful for our veterans and we’re really proud to support the military and make these types of products,” Nichols said. “Our military and medical wire rope and cable are used in mission-critical applications every day. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with the people that rely on us.”

In recognition of Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day, Congressman Joe Courtney of Connecticut’s 2nd congressional district also attended Wednesday’s program to offer awards and recognition of local veterans.

Courtney spoke highly of the Eastern Connecticut Veterans Community Center, and the effort that coffeehouse programs make to unite, support and inform military members.

Loos’ donation will go toward Community Center and Coffeehouse expenses. The Community Center is run by volunteers and donors and is planned to expand into a new home in Willimantic this summer.

The Coffeehouse is currently being held Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hops 44 at 625 Middle Turnpike, Storrs.

The Eastern Connecticut Veterans Community Center is a safe place for veterans and spouses to gather and learn more about veterans’ affairs. The center can offer services on housing, employment, food assistance, VA health enrollment and benefits claims.

Community Center Director Diane Nadeau and veteran and Coffeehouse co-chairman Robert Slate said they were very grateful for the donation.

“Every Wednesday we invite 50+ veterans in for coffee and conversation,” Nadeau said. “We’re grateful for our neighbors like Loos that support our mission.”
